Our Story: A Picton Homecoming

Full Circle on Main Street

While many know us from our sun-drenched seasons in the vines, Bantam’s heart has always been in Picton. Our journey began right here on Main Street in 2020. Before we headed to wine country, we started as a spirited “sister” project to The Marans, briefly occupying the space that is now The Russ & Co.

That early chapter in Picton rooted us in this community, and it’s what eventually inspired us to find a permanent, year-round home back where it all started.

The Vineyard Years

In 2022, we found a beautiful seasonal home nestled within the rows of of the vines. For four wonderful years, we served our “farm-forward” lunches to locals and travelers alike, becoming a staple stop for wine-country explorers.

It was a season of growth, legendary seafood hoagies, and deepening our connections with the County’s farmers. However, as a seasonal destination, we always felt a pull to be closer to our neighbours throughout the entire year.

Our Culinary Philosophy: “Farm Forward”

Now back in Picton at 165 Main Street, our mission remains the same. Led by Rollande Robertson, Bantam is a FeastON certified kitchen. This means we don’t just talk about “local”—we live it.

• Regional Roots: Our menu is a map of the County, featuring produce, meats, wines and beers sourced directly from the hardworking people in our backyard.
• Global Inspiration: we take those local ingredients and pair them with international flavours—from our famous East Coast Hoagie to our vibrant, seasonal bowls.
• A Table for Everyone: We take pride in offering creative, high-quality vegan and gluten-free options that are never an afterthought.

The Next Chapter: Reopening April 16

Starting Thursday, April 16, Bantam officially returns to its roots. No longer just a summer stop, we are thrilled to be a year-round fixture of the Picton community. We’ve missed the energy of Main Street, and we can’t wait to welcome you into our new “forever home.”

• Special Evening Events: Stay tuned for our hosted evening events! From themed pop-up dinners to seasonal tasting menus, we are excited to expand our offerings into the night.
• Host Your Group: Looking for the perfect venue? Our new Picton space is available for private group bookings in the evenings. It’s an ideal setting for corporate gatherings, rehearsal dinners, or milestone celebrations.
